A look back at an absolutely unforgettable season and a thank you to our Seniors.
Alonso held PHU scoreless in the first half, but their offense was able to put in two good goals to defeat the Ravens 2-0. Alonso had an amazing season and considering that they had lost 6-0 to PHU just a few weeks earlier, this result showed the Ravens' grit. We wish PHU well and hope they win the whole thing as we begin looking forward to the 2026-27 season.
Alonso took the long bus ride to Venice for this #4 (Venice) vs. #5 (Alonso) seed in the Class 7A, Region 3, FHSAA State Series Tournament. Venice was every bit the opponent we anticipated. The Ravens fought through sickness, cramps and injury and squeaked out a gritty 3-1 victory over Venice. In a season full of highlights, this one is right up there towards the top. The is the first time that the Ravens have won a Regional Quarterfinal game since 2008 and their first 10-win season in a decade! Next up, a rematch against the #1 seed, Palm Harbor University, on February 12, 2026, in the Regional Semifinals.
In a win for the ages, Alonso went into Plant's den and walked away with a 2-0 victory. Plant's talent is undeniable, having lost only once all season prior to this. We have a belief in our squad, though, and for the first time since the 2011-12 season, the Ravens won a postseason game! Our reward - a rematch of last year's district semifinal and regional quarterfinal against the number 2 team in the state - Palm Harbor University.
Wharton put up a battle, but on the seniors' final home game, they were not going to be stopped. It was a bittersweet end to the home careers for our seniors.
Sumner has some really talented players and they game ready to play. The game was scoreless through the first half. Alonso finally broke through with a goal with about 15 minutes left. Sumner stormed back and tied it up about seven minutes later. And then the finish was something to behold. Watch the video to see what happened.
After that emotional win against Newsome, we came out a little flat against a very strong Durant squad. They absolutely dominated us for the first twenty minutes and scored on a bomb of a free kick from 40 yards out. just a few minutes into the game. We eventually got our sea legs and started to make little dents here and there. Midway through the first half, Miguel Da Silva slid one just wide of the post. A few minutes later, Samuel Gonzalez put one in, but it was called back for offsides. See the video to decide for yourselves if it was offsides. With about ten mintues left, Izaiah Pack knocked one into the lower left corner finally equalizing the game at 1-1. A few minutes later, there was also a very dubious non-call on a possible handball late in the game that would have given the Ravens a PK. Watch the video for details. The game ended in a 1-1 draw. All in all, it was a great week for the boys who are fighting for a higher district ranking both for the district tournament, but also for a potential regional quarterfinal birth.
Put simply, Newsome has an awesome soccer program. They are well coached, have incredible talent and play hard every single game. Each season, they are contenders for a deep run in the state championship series. On this night, our boys respected Newsome immensely, but we also knew that our talent level can compete with any team in the state as long as we play together for a full 80 minutes. After falling down 1-0 in the second half, Alonso stormed back to score two header goals on great crosses to hand Newsome its first loss of the season in a 2-1 victory. In a year of incredible moments and games, this one might be the best of them all.
Bloomingdale is always a powerhouse, so we knew what to expect. After falling down 1-0 in the first half, the Ravens battled back for a 1-1 draw after a beautiful shot from Samuel Gonzalez found the top right corner.
Plant is good every year and this year is no exception. They took the lead late in the first half after a questionable call in the penalty box (the PK was the correct call, but there was a non-call right before the PK was called as is shown in the video). They had the better of the play in the second half, though, ultimately earning a second penalty kick for a 2-0 win.
Alonso won 9-0 for the second time in three games. Things get much tougher over the next several weeks.
Throw the record books out when these two teams play. Leto has had a rough start to the year, but put up on heck of a fight against the Ravens. The Ravens were able to pull away late with a 3-1 win, but Leto gave us everything we could handle.
Alonso took out frustation against Blake on this final game before the Thanksgiving break with a 9-0 victory.
In the fourth one goal or tied game in four years, Calvary edged out Alonso with a late 1-0 win. Their goal came off a (correct) PK call with six minutes left in the game. Alonso had its chances - hitting a post and missing three close range shots. Our keeper, Heitor Da Silva, also made one of the greatest saves in Alonso history in this game. Check out the highlights for that incredible save, where even the opposing team could be heard saying what a great save it was (he also saved the PK, but the rebound went right to the shooter who was able to barely knock it in).
After a long layoff, the boys didn't have enough gas in the tank to stave off Gaither's rocket shots. The Ravens played hard until the end, but it was too big a hill to climb after Gaither scored three goals from over 20 yards out. Congratulations to Gaither on a hard fought 4-3 win.
For the first time in over a decade, the Ravens bested the vaunted Steinbrenner Warriors. Steinbrenner has an incredible program year in and year out with a world class coach, so this come from behind victory was incredibly sweet.
It's always tough to play an opponent virutally back to back. The Knights have a great club and went up early. Somehow, the Ravens fought their way back and then won it late. It was the same score as nine days earlier, but a heck of a lot different path to get there.
Alonso hadn't defeated Sickles in a very long time. That all changed on November 4, 2025, with a strong 4-0 victory. This was a very exciting way to kick off the 2025-26 campaign. Make no mistake, Sickles is a very strong team again this year and we expect them to have a very good record by season's end.
Alonso and Robinson had another close battle in the championship game of the 2nd Annual Chamberlain Preseason Classic. The two teams tied in this game last year, but this year, Alonso squeaked out a 2-1 victory to win the Classic. The two teams play again on 11/7 at Alonso.
In this opening game of the 2nd Annual Chamberlain Preseason Classic, Alonso exploded in the second half to score 7 goals in less than 20 minutes. The first half, however, was incredibly close. Both teams left the game with things to build upon and correct for the upcoming season.
